Maria Gitana is the recipient of the Youth Arts Award from the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture Affairs for the 2010-2011 school year. She is using the grant to establish a cultural arts program in Flamenco dance for youth at the Meadowbrook Teen Center adjacent Nathan Hale High School, from January through May 2011.

Maria Gitana's Arts in Education programs have been selected to present to educators at the ArtsTime Conference October 8-9, 2010 at Foster High School in Tukwila. Starting this fall, Maestra Gitana is developing a children's program in Flamenco-Spanish dance at Meadowbrook Community Center for children 6 years and older.
